First VX Selected For Silver Foxes

The First XV of the Silver Foxes team to take on Bungendore in the April 14th Bungendore Bowl Rugby Challenge has been announced, with former Wallabies and Brumbies abundant.

The Silver Fox line-up includes six former Brumbies who will reunite for this one-off match in the name of charity. Bill Young, Warwick Waugh, Travis Hall and Matt O'Connor, along with Brumbies foundation players Marco Caputo and John Langford will strap on the boots once more to provide the small NSW country town of Bungendore, and surrounding regions, some welcome distraction from the devastating drought.

These Brumbies, along with their Wallaby teammates, will battle the local Bungendore rugby team, The Mudchooks, to raise money for the southern NSW charity, The Greater Good.

Original Brumbies lock, and former Wallaby Langford is thrilled about the prospect of lining up with his old teammates. "I played my first senior rugby in Southern NSW, and then played most of my professional career with the Brumbies, so it's fantastic to be able to give back to the region and the community through such a great rugby concept" he said. When asked about the Foxes chances, Langford smiled, "We may be old, but we're cunning. It will be a tough day in the Coop of Pain!"

The Mudchooks are now in training to prepare for what could be the game of their lives. In response to the First XV announcement, confident Mudchooks coach Peter Payten was showed typical country rugby attitude, saying "I think we can take them!".

The match is to be played at the Mudchooks' own "Coop of Pain" (Gibraltar Street, Bungendore) at 2.30pm on 14 April 2007. Entry is only $10 per head, payable at the gate on match day, with children under 15 free.
