New Zealanders Back Mudchooks In Clash Against Wallabies
[ Monday, 2 April 2007 ]

Trans Tasman rugby rivalry between Australia and New Zealand continues, with the announcement that Canterbury International is supporting the Bungendore Mudchooks when they clash with the reunited Wallaby laden team, the Silver Foxes.

Even after retirement from representative rugby, the Silver Foxes' Wallabies appear unable to escape their Anzac neighbours, and the participation of the iconic New Zealand founded institution should ensure an extra edge to the already healthy rivalry for the Bungendore Bowl Rugby Challenge on April 14, 2007.

With Canterbury joining an already illustrious group of sponsors, interest surrounding the game is at an all time high, particularly as the Silver Foxes continue to recruit major names to their cause. The Silver Foxes tight five this week took on an even more imposing look, with the expected inclusion of 49 time Australian representative and Brumbies foundation player, David Giffin, well known for his enduring partnership with John Eales during the most successful period of Australian rugby.

Led by former Wallaby prop, Richard Harry, the Silver Foxes are confident of a strongly contested match from the Mudchooks, which will also provide an opportunity to raise money for The Greater Good foundation, a worthy community-based charity.

An enthusiastic crowd of up to 5000 is expected for the Bungendore Bowl Rugby Challenge, which will be played at the Mudchooks' "Coop of Pain" (Gibraltar Street, Bungendore) at 2.30pm on 14 April 2007. Entry is only $10 per head, payable at the gate on match day, with children under 15 free. Gates will open at 12, with Junior and Veteran curtain raisers.

Silver Foxes - Richard Harry, Marco Caputo, Andrew Blades, Bill Young, Warwick Waugh, John Langford, David Wilson, Tim Gavin, Travis Hall, Tim Wallace, Tim Horan, Jason Little, Matt Dowling, Matt O'Connor, James Grant, Matt Dixon.
