Chooks' Win Ends In Disaster

Despite a very respectable 41-0 final score, the Mudchooks will need to do some serious work to recover from this week’s match against the Bombala Blue Tongues. Both teams seemed to be plagued by a considerable lack of ball control, which resulted in what could only be described as a sloppy and frustrating game of rugby.
Adding to the Mudchook woes this week, was Luke Payten receiving a broken leg from an awkward tackle in the dying minutes of the match. This is likely to end Luke’s grand final campaign this season and will leave a definite hole in the Bungendore back-line.
Whilst handling errors seemed to dominate most play, the Bungendore team can be pleased with its defensive efforts, holding the opposition off the Mudchook line on a number of occasions and scoreless at the end of the game. Acknowledgement of this tough, up-front struggle was reflected in all Player’s Player points being awarded to members of the forward pack (3 points Peter Payten, 2 points Brett Newman and 1 point Luke Swift).
Other glimpses of positive performance included some attractively constructed tries to Peter Henderson, Dave McDonald and this week’s Chick’s Pick, Luke Bailey. Further tries to Peter Payten and Josh Stevens, gives the Mudchooks a crucial bonus point win and continued reach of the competition leaders.
The Mudchooks will be taking next weekend off with the competition bye, although to keep up to date with what’s coming up, check out the new web site www.mudchooks.com.au. This was put together by local rugby enthusiast and now sponsor, Tim Anger from enigma Creative Media.
