Mudchooks Blitz Boorowa
[ May 10, 2008 ]

The Mudchook bus trip to Boorowa started out fairly quietly, with rumblings of it being "too hot for rugby". Little did Boorowa rugby know, these rumblings were slowing building into what was going to be an expansive explosion.

With the sun shining, not a cloud in the sky and hardly a breathe of wind, the Chooks took to the paddock with an air of confidence that finally recognised it was time to stamp their authority on this Monaro competition.

Within minutes the first try was scored. It's difficult to remember by whom, because by half time the Bungendore side had crossed the opposition try line seven times, generating an unbelievable 41-0 advantage. Finally something had clicked, with both the forwards and backs working together like a well oiled machine.

The forward pack, lead by prop Jason Byron, dominated all aspects of the match, including regained possession from numerous rucks, line-outs and scrums. This opened the doors for the Mudchook backs, who carved through the opposition scoring ten of the eleven unanswered tries for the Bungendore team. The multiple tries by Josh Stevens, Dan Beer and Luke Payten aided to a final score line of 67-0 to the Chooks, shooting them to number one on the competition table.

This weekend is a double-header spectacular in Bungendore, with the Mudchooks taking on last year Grand Finalists, Taralga. Kick off is at 3.00pm, after the Tigers league match, and we need as many supporters as possible to help the team maintain its leading position.
