Mudchooks Out Run The Devils
[ Saturday, 13 June 2009 ]
It was certainly refreshing to remain in Bungendore for only the second home game of the Mudchook's season, and a double header with the Tigers was a great way to celebrate the sunny winter's day. With the sun gods smiling upon the Chooks they took on the Harden Devils in what was a one-sided affair from the outset.
The match was a great team effort for the Bungendore boys who communicated well in both attack and what little defence was required. The heavy set lads from Harden were quickly overwhelmed by the Chooks with the first try scored within minutes of the first whistle blow and then promptly became a try-fest for the home side.
A slight chink in the Mudchook armour was shown half way through the second half that allowed the Devils a brief reprieve from the massacre and their first points of the match, although the Chooks regained composure and continued the onslaught, running in a total of thirteen tries and an 85-7 final score against the demoralised visitors.
In what was a magnificent team spectacular from the Mudchooks, special mention should be given to Luke Payten, Rod Clarke, Dave McDonald and Simon Farrell who all score two tries each, with this week's player points going to, Tymlock 3 Points - Dan Beer; Bungendore Rural CRT 2 Points - John Turner; The Royal Hotel 1 Point - Woody Fraser; and Botham Fencing Contractor's "Chicks Pick" - Aaron Williams.
This coming weekend the Mudchooks once again share the oval with the Tigers. The Chooks play the early game and kick off at 12.00pm against the always formidable Uni-Norths Owls. Please come and support the local boys for another action packed day of rugby.
