Mudchook Captain in Representative Side
[ Thursday, 17 June 2010 ]
Hayward (Woody) Fraser, Mudchook captain and well known Monaro rugby identity, has been selected to play in the Brumbies Provincial Representative side.
Woody and Mudchook flanker Sandy Beggs, both played for the Monaro Representative side in the 2010 Brumbies Provincial Championship that was played in Goulburn over the long weekend. There were three southern NSW representative teams in the Championship and the Mudchooks players were part of the successful Monaro team which defeated the Southern Inland Rams 17 to 10 in the final match on Monday. With both Monaro and Southern Inland having defeated the South Coast Marlins in earlier matches on Saturday and Sunday, the winner of their match on Monday also took out the Brumbies Provincial Championship Trophy.
Results of earlier Matches:
- Saturday – Monaro 56 defeated South Coast 6
- Sunday – Southern Inland 79 defeated South Coast 19
The Brumbies Provincial Representative side was selected at the completion of the Championship and, as expected, Monaro and Southern Inland make up the majority of the 23 man squad that will play the Australian Police Representative side next Saturday 19th of June in Campbelltown.
Also on 19th June the Mudchooks will play RMC at Portsea Field, Hopkins Road, Duntroon with a 2:30pm kick off. RMC are equal second with Bungendore on the Monaro Second Division table with 23 points each and no losses so far this season. RMC has a slightly better points for and against ratio, while 2009 premiers Boorowa lead the competition on 24 points. Therefore, the game against RMC this weekend is the biggest test and most important game for Bungendore this season, so please come along and support the Mudchooks.
