Good Win v Taralga
[ Saturday, 4 June 2011 ]
The Mudchooks enjoyed a good win 19-6 against Taralga in windy, wet and cold conditions at Taralga last weekend. In a typically tough match, all the points for both teams were scored during the first half, with the Mudchooks scoring three tries to nil. During the second half, running with the wind at their backs, the Mudchooks were unlucky not to score another try and win a bonus point, but the Taralga defence proved to be too tough to crack.
It was very pleasing to see the Tymlock three points and Chicks Pick go to heavy weight prop, Justin Walker, whose fitness and contribution to the team have been improving with each game he plays. Bungendore Rural Supplies and the Botham Fencing coach’s award went to Mark Chapman; and the two Eddies: Mitford-Burgess and Zarb, each received one point from the Royal Hotel.
The next Mudchook game is a big one against Crookwell, at home on 25 June. Crookwell was the only team to beat the Mudchooks in the first round of the competition, and the Bungendore boys are keen for revenge. The game will be the main event for the annual charity fundraiser Mudchooks Ladies Day.
In other news, five Mudchook players - Woody Fraser, Jason Brodrick, Andrew Turner, Mark Chapman and Luke Payten; have been selected in the Monaro representative team to play against Southern Inland in the first game in the Brumbies Provincial Tournament at the Canberra Stadium on Friday 10th of June at 5.15pm in the curtain raiser to the Brumbies v Rebels Super Rugby match.
