Mudchooks' Ladies Day A Huge Success
[ Saturday, 25 June 2011 ]
The Mudchooks Ladies Day held on Saturday 25 June was a huge success both on and off the field. The Mudchooks avenged their first round loss against Crookwell with a 24 to 19 win and, besides having a great social day; the Mudchicks raised $6,500 for the Bungendore Community Foundation from raffles and the auction of the special edition pink jerseys worn by the Mudchooks.
The game was the usual hard fought match against the Crookwell Dogs and was a classic “game of two halves”. During the first half the Mudchooks dominated the play, winning every scrum including all those that Crookwell fed. The backs ran riot with Luke Payten scoring three tries. Crookwell scored one try and the half time score was 17 to 7. In the second half, Sandy Beggs scored immediately after the game re-started and then Crookwell’s game improved after coach and former Brumby ‘Diesel” McCormack ran on. Crookwell started to win their own scrums and scored two converted tries in quick succession. The Mudchooks were forced to defend for most of the second half and held on grimly to win the game and earn a bonus point.
The best and fairest results were: Tymlock three points to Eddie Mitford-Burgess; Bungendore Rural Services two points to Morne Ferreira; Royal Hotel one point to Hayden Bannerman (who played his first game for the Mudchooks); Botham Fencing coach’s award went to Jason Brodrick; and the Chicks’ Pick was Aaron Williams.
Thanks and congratulations to Kristi Payten and Stacey Beggs for organising a wonderful Ladies’ Day.
