Mudchooks Minor Premiers For The Second Year In A Row
[ Saturday, 13 August 2011 ]
The Bungendore Mudchooks are Monaro Second Division minor premiers for the second year in a row. This means that they will be playing the major semi final against Jindabyne Bushpigs at Bungendore on Saturday 20 August with the winner of this match hosting the grand final on 3 September and the loser hosting the final on 27 August.
The Mudchooks finished the season with 46 competition points, equal with Jindabyne, but the Mudchooks had a better for and against record for the season with 204 points scored to 133 points scored against. This produced a 71 point difference for Bungendore compared to Jindabyne’s 36 point difference, so the Mudchooks become minor premiers. Crookwell finished with 44 points and Yass finished with 41 points and these two clubs play the minor semi final at Crookwell on 20 August.
This season the Monaro Second Division competition has been the tightest since the Mudchooks joined it in 2005. Each of the top four teams has beaten one another and there appears to be no real home ground advantage being enjoyed by any club. Therefore, the final series is going to be very tough, so the Mudchooks are after all the support they can get to help them win this next vital game.
If you enjoy watching country rugby, please come to the game at Mick Sherd Oval, Bungendore next Saturday 20 August at 2:30pm and get behind your local rugby union team.
