Mudchooks Captain Best And Fairest
[ Friday, 27 August 2010 ]

Mudchooks captain Hayward (Woody) Fraser was awarded the Monaro Second Division Best and Fairest trophy at the annual ACT & Southern NSW Rugby Union's Macdougall Medal Presentation Dinner held on Friday 27 August.

The trophy is presented to the best and fairest player in the Second Division competition, as judged by the referees on a 3-2-1 basis for each match. Woody is the fourth Bungendore player to have received the trophy in the past six years with previous winners being Peter Payten (2005), Luke Payten (2006) and Peter Henderson (2008). The award is a real honour and a well deserved recognition of the great rugby Woody has played this year and the tremendous job he has done leading the undefeated Mudchooks team.

Ten Mudchooks attended the dinner to receive the Second Division minor premier's trophy and it was a wonderful surprise to hear Woody's name called as the winner of the best and fairest award. With typical modesty Woody said that "it's great to win the award, but I thought John Turner should have been the winner."

The Mudchooks will play Boorowa in the grand final on Saturday 4th September at Bungendore. The game kicks off at 2:30pm and a canteen and bar will provide refreshments. Finally, the Mudchooks social committee will be running a 'Best Decorated Business' in Bungendore in the week building up to the grand final to get the town behind the Mudchooks. First prize will be a hamper of mixed wines kindly donated by Bungendore Cellars.
